Meteorological Services Department Showcases Weather and Climate Science at Zimbabwe Students Climate Innovation Summit 2026

Meteorological Services Department (MSD) of Zimbabwe recently participated in the Zimbabwe Students Climate Innovation Summit 2026 at the University of Zimbabwe, where it exhibited the science behind weather and climate services under the theme, ”Towards a Net Zero Future."

Through an interactive exhibition, MSD guided students through the meteorological value chain; from weather observations and data collection to forecasting and the dissemination of early warnings, highlighting how scientific information supports disaster risk reduction, agriculture, aviation, water resources, and climate resilience.

The summit provided an important platform to engage young innovators, strengthen public understanding of weather and climate science, and inspire the next generation to develop evidence-based solutions for a more resilient and sustainable Zimbabwe.
