Permanent Secretary Masanga Visits MSD to Appreciate Operations and Engage Staff

Harare, 16 June 2026, The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, Mr. Simon Masanga, today visited the Meteorological Services Department (MSD), one of the Ministry’s key technical departments.
He was accompanied by Chief Director Mr. Washington Zhakata and received by the Director of MSD, Mrs. R. Manzou.
Mr. Masanga commended MSD for the critical role it plays in providing weather forecasts and early warnings that underpin national safety, food security, and economic planning. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to support the department in fulfilling its mandate effectively.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Permanent Secretary to familiarize himself with the officers and the department’s operations. In keeping with principles of open dialogue, staff were invited to share their perspectives and contributions to the department’s work. Mr. Masanga listened attentively and encouraged continued professionalism and dedication to service delivery.
The engagement concluded on a positive note, with both leadership and staff expressing a shared commitment to strengthening MSD’s capacity to serve the nation.
