Minister of Environment, Climate and Wildlife Tours MSD Exhibition Stand at ZITF

The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) had the honor of hosting the newly appointed Minister of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, Dr Evelyn Ndlovu, at its exhibition stand during the 2025 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF). This visit marked a significant moment for the department as it welcomed the Minister in her new role and showcased its critical contributions to national development.
Dr Ndlovu was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Ambassador T.T Chifamba, as she toured various stands under the Ministry’s portfolio. Her visit to the MSD stand provided an opportunity for the department to present its initiatives under this year’s internal theme: “Contributing to an Integrated Economic Landscape Through Weather and Climate Monitoring.”
As one of the key departments under the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, the Meteorological Services Department plays a vital role in national planning, disaster preparedness, agriculture, water resource management, and aviation safety through the provision of timely and accurate weather and climate information. The Minister’s presence signified not only her interest but also her commitment to supporting scientific institutions that form the backbone of climate resilience and sustainable environmental stewardship.
During the tour, Dr Ndlovu was briefed on the department’s current programs, innovations in forecasting technologies, and ongoing collaborations with both local and international partners. She commended the MSD’s work in promoting evidence-based decision-making and emphasized the importance of climate data in shaping the future of Zimbabwe’s environmental and economic policies.
The MSD remains committed to its mandate and looks forward to working closely with Dr Ndlovu as she leads the Ministry into a new chapter of proactive environmental governance, climate action, and wildlife protection. The department stands ready to support the Minister’s vision and priorities, ensuring that Zimbabwe is well-positioned to address the challenges and opportunities presented by a changing climate.
