Bulawayo — As the 66th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair runs in Bulawayo this week, the Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe (MSD) is once again taking part, standing shoulder to shoulder with sister departments under the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife to reinforce the link between weather intelligence and industrial productivity.

Running from April 20 to 25 under the theme “Connected Economies, Competitive Industries,” ZITF 2026 emphasizes regional integration, resilient supply chains, and digital innovation within the African Continental Free Trade Area. The MSD, a regular participant at the fair, can be found within the Ministry’s stand where it exhibits alongside its sister departments to present a coordinated approach to environmental and industry support services.

For the MSD, ZITF remains a strategic platform to translate weather and seismological science into tools for industry, agriculture, energy, and trade. This year the department is exhibiting under its internal theme, ‘connecting weather and seismological intelligence to Industry productivity’, a focus that directly aligns with ZITF’s broader push for competitive industries and connected economies.

The internal theme reflects MSD’s mandate to ensure that weather and seismological data feeds into production schedules, infrastructure resilience, and cross-border trade planning. By showcasing this approach shoulder to shoulder with its sister departments, the MSD highlights a whole-of-ministry effort to embed weather intelligence into the region’s industrial value chains.

By exhibiting within the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife stand, the MSD reinforces a clear message for ZITF 2026: industrial competitiveness in a connected Africa depends on integrated weather and industry support services working in concert.

As the fair continues through Saturday, the Meteorological Services Department remains on hand in Bulawayo — not as a lone technical department, but as part of a united ministerial team ensuring that weather and seismological science stay at the centre of Zimbabwe’s industrial conversation.
