Scattered thunderstorms with localized heavy downpours occurred across the country during the second dekad of March. The storms developed as a result of abundant atmospheric moisture from the north, associated with cloud bands. The highest ten-day cumulative rainfall totals included 346 mm at Mukandi, 152 mm at Buffalo Range, 129 mm at Kanyemba, 127 mm at Chisengu, and 126 mm at Nyanga; the spatial distribution of these totals is shown in Figure 1
