Our Weekly Rainfall Bulletin

These bulletins are produced from the period October to April of the following year to monitor the seasonal rainfall performance. The rainfall bulletins compliment the seasonal rainfall forecasts that are issued each year in August/September. With the rainfall bulletins, the distribution of the rainfall can be monitored thereby providing additional information to the progress of the rainfall season. These bulletins provide a weekly summary of the rainfall activity within the country reporting on the highest 24hr and weekly amounts. They also provide the seasonal totals and a comparison with the long term averages. Weekly forecasts are incorporated into the bulletins to assist the users with their planning across the climate sensitive sectors.

  • Summary of the Past Week's Rainfall: Highlights rainfall totals across different regions, noting areas of significant precipitation and those with little or no rainfall.
  • Seasonal Accumulated Rainfall: Presents the cumulative rainfall amounts since the beginning of the season, identifying regions with above or below-average accumulation.
  • Seasonal Rainfall Anomaly: Assesses how current seasonal rainfall compares to historical averages, pinpointing areas experiencing wetter or drier conditions than usual.
  • Weekly Evaporation Rate: Reports on evaporation rates across the country, offering insights into moisture availability.
  • Weather Outlook: Provides a forecast for the upcoming week, including expected rainfall and temperature trends.

The Weekly Rainfall Bulletin is an essential resource for understanding current weather patterns, planning agricultural activities, and managing water resources.
